21 Academy is pleased to announce that it has partnered with 21 Law, Advisory 21 and Prohealth and has designed a short online course for those who want to have their workplace as in-line as possible  with the expected standards of hygiene and procedures to prevent COVID-19 from reaching the workplace. The course will also focus on the legal implications such preventive measures might have and how to go about them.

This two-session course is of particular interest  to those persons appointed to be responsible for the implementation and observance of policies and procedures on COVID-19 infection prevention at the workplace, Directors, CEOs, HR Professionals, Health & Safety Officers, and Logistics Officers.

The main learning objectives include the following:

  • Acquiring  a broad understating of existing infection preventive measures
  • Understanding the needs of a Workplace Risk Assessment
  • Carrying out the Risk Assessment
  • Reviewing existing policies and procedures to adapt them to the new normal
  • Drafting of new policies and procedures emanating from the Risk Assessment
  • Understanding the implications of the preventive measures on employment and data privacy legislation

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • create a “visibly” safer environment at the workplace for clients and employees alike
  • draft and implement scientific, evidence-based Standard Operating procedures (SOPs) specific to the COVID 19 emergency. These SOPs are essential, both to ensure that safety standards are maintained by all throughout your organisation, as well as to strengthen your case in the unfortunate eventuality of liability claims made by clients or employees.
  • avoid the introduction of policies and procedures which conflict with existing employment and privacy legislation

A certificate of attendance will be issued to all those attending both sessions.

Detailed Time Table

Lecture 1 – Tuesday 26th May 2020

Tutor: May Schembri

During this session, attendees will be equipped to understand how organisations can quickly adapt to a different way of performing daily tasks, to ensure their business continuity, as well as the safety of their customers and employees. Further to this they will receive knowledge on strategies and tools needed to manage the many challenges being faced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants will understand the fundamental principles of infection control, and how these can be applied in a practical and cost-effective way on a day-to-day basis, to meet the unique requirements of one’s organisation in the “New Normal”. We will also aim to bust commonplace Coronavirus workplace myths and answer most frequently asked questions.

Lecture 2 – Friday 29th May 2020

Tutors: Dr Roselyn Borg & Angelito Sciberras

This session will deal with the legal implications of the preventive measures as tackled during the previous lecture. Participants will be shown how to align such preventive measures with the relevant local legislation. They shall be trained on how to recognise the potential legislation of interest, therefore mainly covering employment, data privacy and health & safety law. The main aspects of the relevant laws will be discussed in light of the preventive measures which may be put in place.

During this session, attendees will be exposed to the broad content of a Return to Work in the New Norm Policy and will also be informed how such a policy should be implemented at the place of work in line with the results of the Risk Assessment.
